About
Kathy took up oil painting in 1975 and immediately loved the process of creating and the fluidity of the oil. She began taking classes with John Gould, Sr. at the Bethlehem Art Gallery and later on with his son Paul. Recently, Kathy has been taking classes with Andrew Lattimore and continues with classes and workshops to develop her talent whenever she can. “There is always something to learn from every artist and instructor. Painting is an ongoing process.”
Her favorite subjects include her grandson and children as well as landscapes from the beautiful Hudson Valley, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and from her travels including Hawaii, Ireland, the California coast and flowers from all these beautiful areas.
In recent years she has discovered the clarity and subtleties of painting outdoors in the natural light and enjoys plein air workshops whenever possible. After bringing a plein air painting home, she very often completes it with her final touches in her summer studio, a north facing covered porch, rather than her indoor studio.
She resides in Mountainville in the Town of Cornwall, New York with her husband Kevin. Two of her three grown children reside nearby while her elder son resides with his wife and son on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.
